The National Project Coordinator, Mr. Victor Mills, commenting on the theme for the celebration “Transform Ghana: Invest in Agriculture”, said as the government makes effort to address the challenges facing sustainable value chains of the agricultural sector and creates a better environment for entrepreneurs, farmers must ensure that their products are in conformity with national and international standards.
He said the Trade Capacity Building programme, which aims at enhancing the export potential of targeted sustainable value chains (fruits, cocoa, fish and wood products) with important poverty reduction impacts, has brought about great improvements in the quality standards in the agricultural sector.
“The UNIDO/TCB Project has since March 2007 improved both technical and human capacity in the conformity assessment institutions and helped developing economies like Ghana to penetrate the international markets with certified goods from accredited testing laboratories,” he added
The Trade Capacity Building Project is funded by the Swiss Government through the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) and implemented by UNIDO in cooperation with the Ministry of Trade and Industry (MOTI).
