The Electoral Commission of Ghana has revised dates for the filing of nominations ahead of the September 1 district level elections.

Instead of accepting nominations on July 2 and July 3 for the district assembly elections as originally scheduled, the EC has rescheduled Monday, July 6 and Tuesday, July 7 as new dates to take nominations.

As a result, the new dates for filing nominations for the unit committee elections are the next two days after the district assembly’s.

“Filing of nomination in the Talensi district of the Upper East Region will, however, take place on Thursday 9th and Friday 10th July, 2015 for the District Assembly elections; while nomination for the Unit Committee elections will take place on Monday 13th and Tuesday 14th July, 2015,” a statement signed by Deputy EC Chairman Dr Amadu Sulley said.

The nominations will be received between 9:00am and 5:00pm at the various electoral area centers by the deputy returning officers in charge of special duties.

“The public is, however, reminded that the date for the elections remains as Tuesday, the 1st Day of September, 2015.”

The Talensi by-election comes off Tuesday, July 7.
