The Supreme Court will today hear an application filed by the National Democratic Congress’s Parliamentary Nominee for the Klottey Korle constituency, Dr. Zanetor Rawlings over her candidature.

Dr. Zanetor Rawlings is challenging the authority of a High Court hearing the case in which her candidature is being contested by the incumbent MP Nii Armah Ashiettey.

According to Mr. Ashiettey, Dr. Rawlings’ name was not in Ghana’s voters register and due to that she cannot stand for a political position.

This follows an adjournment last week due to the unavailability of the judges empanelled to hear the case.

The NDC’s parliamentary candidate for the Klottey Korle constituency, Dr. Zanetor Rawlings registered as a Ghanaian voter on Thursday April 28.

A photo image of Dr. Rawlings and her inked finger emerged moments after she completed the registration exercise at the Nyaniba polling station at Ridge which is within the constituency.

The case sent to the Supreme Court by Dr. Rawlings was adjourned to May 3 for first hearing on whether or not the High Court had powers to hear the case.

Lawyers for Nii Armah Ashiettey have said they are vindicated by the registration of Dr. Zanetor Rawlings adding that she would still not win the case despite her latest move.
