An Accra Fast Track High Court (Labour Division), has thrown out a writ filed by General Secretary of the United Front Party [UFP], Listowell Nana Kusi-Poku, against the Ghana Medical Association (GMA).

This was after the plaintiff withdrew the case against the body of medical practitioners on Wednesday.

The UFP Chief Scribe had filed a writ seeking the court to declare the strike embarked upon by the Ghana Medical Association (GMA) illegal.

He further sought an order from the court directing the GMA to call off its strike and a perpetual injunction to restrain doctors from ever embarking on a strike or a partial withdrawal of services.

The doctors had been on strike to demand improved and documented conditions of service from the government.

Last week, the doctors after several pleas from both eminent Ghanaians and ordinary members of the public called off the three-week strike and are back at post whiles negotiations have resumed with government.

When the case was called on Wednesday, the plaintiff through his lawyer indicated that he had decided to withdraw the case.

The Presiding Judge, Justice Barbara Tetteh Charway then cancelled the case, but refused to award cost against Nana Kusi Poku as the GMA had requested.
