The Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin on February 27 warned lawmakers to take their seats whenever he the speaker stands.

This was after the lawmakers, from both sides, were cheering their respective flagbearers when the speaker introduced Former President John Dramani Mahama and Dr Mahamudu Bawumia in the chamber ahead of the presentation of the State of the Nation address (SONA).

Asking the lawmakers to keep quiet, the speaker said “When the speaker is on his feet everyone one should sit.

“This is a formal sitting of parliament and all the rules apply. I am tempted to start enforcing some of the rules.”
