SHS students who study Elective Science exempted from Core Maths and Integrated Science – NaCCA

The National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NaCCA) has said that students who choose elective science in Senior High School (SHS) will no more be required to study Core Mathematics and Integrated Science.

The Director General of NaCCA, Professor Edward Appiah who disclosed this said this policy shift forms part of the new curriculum developed to improve education in the country.

“All senior high school (SHS) Science students will no longer be required to study Core and Elective Mathematics as separate examinable subjects from the 2024/2025 academic year,” a statement sighted by 3News said.

Prof Appiah further revealed that “such Science students would also no longer study Integrated Science because they were already studying Pure Science.

He clarified that Science students already expansively study Mathematics and Science, hence the need to exempt them from those additional courses.
