Seven dead, 6 injured as mini bus rams into trailer near Zebilla

A mini bus has rammed into a stationary truck at Yikurugu near Zebilla in the Bawku West district of the Upper East Region killing seven passengers and injuring seven others. Those who suffered various degrees of injuries in the Monday dawn accident are currently receiving treatment at the Zebilla District Hospital. The mini urvan bus with the registration GR 9895-N was travelling from Kumasi to Bawku when the accident happened at about 4:00am Monday on the Bolgatanga-Bawku Highway. [caption id="attachment_83998" align="aligncenter" width="702"] The mini bus (L) rammed into the faulty trailer (R) in the middle of the road[/caption] A faulty trailer left in the middle of the road was said to have confused the mini bus driver who could not control his speed thus causing him to ram into the truck. Five persons died on the spot while two others died while being taken to hospital. Many of the dead have been identified by their relatives and the bodies have since been released to the families. One woman, Alima Mumuni Ajaagi, whose left leg was broken, lost her 2-year-old child.
