About 50 residents from Tamso, Hill Top and Nsuta Junction have massed at the Nsuta Junction Friday morning and blocked with burning of car tyres. Their action was triggered the killing of a resident by a manganese truck Thursday evening. The truck belonging to the Ghana Manganese Company ran over and killed the man said to be in his 30s. Last month residents of Bonsaso blocked the Tarkwa – Takoradi road after an articulated truck ran over a school girl. A resident, Kofi Ackon, told Takoradi-based Connect 91.7FM Friday that the man was crossing the road at about 8:00pm Thursday when the truck which was from Nsuta to Axim knocked him dead. “The man had closed from work and was crossing the road at the Nsuta Junction. I cannot really tell whether the driver saw the victim or not. But from the video I have seen the driver might have been speeding because all the intestines of the victim were splashed on the road” he narrated. Ackon said “it is the accident that has angered us to block the road” at Nsuta Junction. “You need to see how the truck drivers drive when they get to the Nsuta Junction. It is very worrying. They don’t mind whether someone is by the road or not”. For him, if no authority will sanction the speeding truck drivers then as residents they “will continue to block the road”. Meanwhile the Police in the area have moved in to disperse the crowd for traffic to flow. By Eric Adjei|3news.com|Ghana]]>
