Metropolitan Archbishop of Accra Bishop Charles Gabriel Palmer-Buckle has asked marriage couples to protect the marriage institution. Bishop Palmer-Buckle urged members of the Roman Catholic Church in Ghana to lead in this charge. He gave this piece of advice on Saturday while delivering his homily during the Catholic Diocese @ 25 Mass celebrations in Koforidua. The celebration was themed: ‘Renewing our Faith in the Light of the New Evangelization’. He said in recent times, society has been undermining fidelity to God in a subtle way but asked Catholics to hold on to the Christian faith. “We are paying bribe doing other things for people to do things for us. It is not the best.” He added, the marriage institution was critical for the church and the Catholic Bishop Conference hence there was the need for couples to protect the marriage institution and procreate people for all vocations. “We just came from Bishop conference. We discussed family, life and marriage. Through marriage, we have procreation. It’s an earthly responsibility. Take care of your spouse and children.” He emphasised marriage was for two things – God’s creation and living in unlimited creation of love. Hundreds of Catholic faithful joined in the Mass and anniversary durbar. Saturday marks the third day of the four-day event. The lay faithful led bidding prayers for the nation, government, the clergy and the sick. Eight Catholic Bishops from across the country joined the celebrations. The Koforidua Catholic Diocese was created on July 6, 1992 and has 75 ordained priests currently. It was the tenth diocese in Ghana carved from the then Diocese of Accra. Bishop Palmer-Buckle was the first Bishop but it is currently headed by Bishop Joseph Afrifah-Agyekum. By Yvonne Neequaye|3news.com|Koforidua, E/R|Ghana ]]>
