Minority Chief Whip Kwame Governs Agbodza has responded to claims by the Governor of the Bank of Ghana that he will not resign despite demands by the caucus and its allied partners.

On Tuesday, October 4, the Minority led a protest, dubbed #OccupyBoG, against Dr Ernest Yedu Addison and his two deputies.

Thousands marched from the Obra Spot near the Kwame Nkrumah Circle Interchange to the head office of the central bank to meet the Governor.

However, the Director of Security was delegated to meet leadership of the Minority for the petition.

Minority Leader Dr Cassiel Ato Forson refused to deliver the petition to Wing Commander (rtd) Kwame Asare-Boateng, claiming he felt disrespected by the Governor as the leader of the caucus in Parliament, to send the Bank’s security chief to meet him and the organisers.

Minority Chief Whip has described Dr Addison as a “coward” who was hiding in his “rat hole protected by his accomplices when we were looking for him”.

“He came out today beating his chest…”

The Adaklu Member of Parliament (MP) said Dr Addison may have been disappointed the demonstration turned out to be peaceful.

“The Governor was so disappointed we carried a very peaceful demonstration. He expected more action.”

But he said the Minority will not relent in its demand to get Dr Addison and his deputies out of office.

“If you spend more than GH¢100 million on car maintenance, if you allow a contractor to develop his own scope of works and increase a cost for a project from just above $80 million to over $220 million and does not want accountability, you may feel like a clever thief today.

“At the time many road, hospital, school, water projects are suspended. At the time many young people are jobless and hopeless. But your day of justice will sure come.”
