The Director of Operations for the Greater Accra National Democratic Congress (NDC), James Agbey, has said that the main opposition party would not sit for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to visit mayhem on them in the 2024 general elections.

Reacting to the comment of the Minister of Food and Agriculture Bryan Acheampong that the NPP would not hand over power to the NDC, James Agbey said in a statement on Tuesday April 11  “They want to make violence sound normal. That’s why the Minister for Food and Agriculture, Bryan Acheampong is heard beating the war drums in ancipation of reliving the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election violence in election 2024.

“We have all watched Bryan Acheampong’s video and have taken notice of his unguarded rants.  We have also become aware of his intention to disrupt the 2024 polls and plunge the country into chaos.

“While I acknowledge the fact that Bryan Acheampong is a threat to our Democracy and must not be tolerated, this depraved effort is part of the ongoing NPP agenda to illegitimately hang on to power in 2024 even as it is clear that Ghanaians don’t want them in office.  Not long ago, the Director of Operations at the Presidency, Lord Commey made similar statement. There has also been media reports of NPP training vigilantes for 2024 elections.

“This brazen authoritarian course that has picked up steam in recent times needs to be condemned by civil society and the good people of Ghana.  People of integrity, honesty, consistency and selflessness from across the political spectrum must take action now, or the likes me will match him squarely. Bryan Acheampong who couldn’t cut it as a chef in the US Air Force, and was allegedly dishonorably discharged is under the false impression that he is the only brave man in Ghana.  I, James Agbey, Director of Operations for the Greater Accra NDC can assure Bryan Acheampong that the NPP will be sent parking out of the Jubilee House in 2024 through the ballot box, and there’s absolutely nothing he can do about that. However, if the NPP decides to choose violence then we are ready for them.”

Bryan Acheampong had assured members of the NPP that the economy would bounce back.

He said the government was working to secure a deal with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

Hopefully, he said, by June this year the deal will be closed, a situation that will lead to the resurgence of the economy.

Speaking to members of the NPP in Kwahu after a health walk on Saturday, April 8, the Abetifi Lawmaker said “NDC party will collapse. If the NDC dares to use threats, Violence and foolishness in the 2024 election we will let them know we have the men. We will show them that we have the men. We have the men.

“It will never happen that we the NPP will stand on a platform to hand over power to the NDC. It will never happen! We will make sure NPP remain in government at all cost”.

The former Minister of State in Charge of National Security added “Now with the way things are changing the economy will bounce back again, I am telling you that we are going to come around that curve and we are going to win the 2024 elections hands down.”
