We pray for the peaceful repose of his soul – Ningo-Prampram MP mourns ET Mensah

The Member of Parliament for Ningo-Prampram Constituency, Samuel Nartey George, has paid tribute to his predecessor, Enoch Teye Mensah.

The Council of State member died late Sunday while receiving treatment in a South African hospital.

ET Mensah, as he was affectionately called, had served the people of Ningo-Prampram for two decades as their Member of Parliament until the current MP, Sam George, replaced him in 2017.

The young National Democratic Congress (NDC) activist had beaten the veteran in 2015 in  parliamentary primaries.

In his tribute, Mr Nartey George wished the family of ET Mensah profound condolences on behalf of the NDC in the Ningo-Prampram.

“The late former Member of Parliament for our beloved Constituency who, until his demise, was a Member of the current Council of State served our nation in several capacities for over four decades.

“We pray for the peaceful repose of his soul and strength for his family left behind,” his short statement concluded.

ET Mensah is expected to be flown back to Ghana on Monday, October 2 for final funeral arrangements.

Aside serving as MP for Ningo-Prampram, he served as Minister of Education, Minister of Youth and Sports, the longest-serving in the sector till date, and Minister of Employment and Social Welfare.

He had also served as mayor of Accra.

He was 77.
