We need a new face to lead NPP as flagbearer – Kwabena Agyepong

A flagbearer hopeful of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Kwabena Agyei Agyepong has said that the same people who have handled the economy in these difficult times should not be allowed to lead the party into the 2024 general election.

He feared that Ghanaians would reject the NPP in the next election if these same people lead the party.

To that end, he said he is differing the new face to lead the NPP.

“We need a new face,” he said ruing his campaign launch in Accra on Tuesday, July 11.

He added “We need a new leader to connect two the leadership of the grassroots.”

He expressed optimism that the delegates will vote for him because they buy into his message.

“I am sure that the party people know what they need and they will vote for me as the flagbearer and eventually the president of the nation,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Vetting Committee of the NPP has submitted its report to the General Secretary.

The report was handed to Justin Kodua Frimpong after a closed-door meeting that lasted more than one hour.

Ten aspirants who successfully filed their nominations at the end of closing on Saturday, June 24 were vetted between Monday, July 3 and Thursday, July 6.
