An outgoing national executive of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has spoken high of their achievements in the last four years, having clinched victory in the last general elections.

Sammi Awuku, who is the National Organiser of the party, maintains that they creditably discharged the mandate given them four years ago in Koforidua.

He insists, however, that it is up to the party’s fraternity and delegates “to also judge us based on the context and what we have done”.

Mr Awuku, who will not seek re-election was speaking to Media General‘s Komla Adom on Saturday, July 16 ahead of the 2022 National Delegates Conference.

The Conference is being held at the Accra Sports Stadium on the theme: ‘Holding Together, Working Together’.

It will see the election of new party executives to steer affairs for the next four years with the crucial 2024 elections in sight.

Critics say the current executives failed to increase the fortunes of the party despite a marginal win in the 2020 elections.

“We promised to deliver victory and we delivered victory,” he told our reporter.

“Let’s say you go into a tournament. You’re praying, working hard towards 3 goals and 3 points, you get to win 3 points and 1 goal but you get to scrape and move to the next stage.

“And I think that me and my colleagues from the Freddie Blay leadership, Freddie Blay executives, I believe that we were able to do our bid to move the party forward.

“It’s up to the next crop of party executives and leaders to also enjoy that maximum support and cooperation to also help move the NPP to the next level,” Sammi Awuku said.

The aspirants for the National Organiser position are current Youth Organiser Henry Nana Boakye, former Tema East Member of Parliament Daniel Nii Titus Glover, Eric Amoako Twum, and Bright Essilfie Kumi.

The rest are Seth Adu-Adjei and Nana Owusu Fordjour.
