Leadership of the New Patriotic Party in the Eastern Region has asked all party members to respect the decision of the National Executive Committee suspending the party Chairman, Mr. Paul Afoko.

A statement issued by the leadership and signed by the Eastern Regional General Secretary, Prince Aboagye said the decision of the NEC, which has caused a court action to be issued against the party and some 29 high-ranking members of the party, is binding on all.

“[It is] binding on all of us and it is indeed our duty as party people to defend it. The situation where some party members are joining the NDC to criticise the party is a betrayal of the party and adds to increasing charges of moles in our midst,” it stated.

The statement equally urged all to respect the rights of Mr. Afoko to appeal against the decision but said it expects Mr. Afoko to also respect the party’s structure and constitution in seeking redress on the matter.

The leadership further advised Mr. Afoko to exhaust the internal structures of the party before considering any court action. “We want to see renewed discipline and respect returned to the party now as we organise ourselves to focus on what we are in politics to do, which is to win power and serve the people,” it added.

It reminded all members that the party is supreme, noting it is the collective duty of all members to work with the Flagbearer with total loyalty and contentment to the party and its goal of winning power in 2016.
