The chairman of the Volta regional security council (REGSEC), Dr. Archibald Yao Letsa has indicated the willingness of the council to investigate videos making rounds on social media about alleged thumb printing of multiple ballots. Social media was awash with videos showing some individuals thumb printing ballots for the creation of the Oti region from the Volta region. Dr. Archibald Letsa told 3news.com’s Komla Klutse monitoring events in the proposed region that he was waiting for details of the alleged electoral malpractices to take action. “If any electoral offences are committed they must be investigated for appropriate action to be taken,” the REGSEC chairman who doubles as the Volta Regional Minister assured. In one incident, a damning video surfaced on social media showing a man busily thumb printing multiple ballot papers in the full glare of the public. Meanwhile, the regional centre of the Electoral Commission was yet to get any results from the 9 expected areas that took part in Thursday’s referendum as of 9:30pm over four hours after voting had ended. The nine districts that will constitute the Oti region are: Biakoye, Jasikan, Kadjebi, Krachi East [municipal], and Krachi Nehumuru. The rest are: Krachi West, Nkwanta North, Nkwanta South [municipal], and Santrokofi, Akpafu, Likpe and Lolobi.
