Former President John Dramani Mahama has eulogized his former boss, the Late Professor John Evans Atta Mills on the occasion of the 10th memorial anniversary on Sunday July 24.

Mr Mahama said Prof Atta Mills was a breath of fresh air.

“Professor was an honourable and dignified statesman whose love for his country and his people, was without questions. He was a phenomenon best felt than described. His entry into the pressure cooker and high octane environments, that is, Ghanaian politics was the most opportune development for this country.

“To many of us, he was a breath of fresh air that enabled us to make a clean break from the monotonous acrimonious past, laden with deep-seated divisions. His was a brand of politics and governance, which emphasised the graceful wielding of political power,” Mr Mahama who was Vice President to Professor Mills said on Sunday July 24.

He added “Prof Mills showed utmost restraint and did not allow power to alter who he was. Professor Mills was every embodiment of temperance remains no secret of his preference for peace, over strife, even in the face of provocation, and he lived by this creed until his death.

“This earned him the moniker, Asomdwehene which many fondly remember him for. He was inherently humane and showed great respect to all those he met or had dealings with. To every extent possible, he refused to victimize opponents or critics.”
