The New Patriotic Party has counterclaimed allegations made  by the National Democratic Congress to the effect that its members in the Ashanti Region were being disenfranchised in a fraudulent voters’ register validation.

The NDC at alleged Thursday that agents of the NPP were moving round the Suame Constituency with a copy of the national voters’ register and are marking the names of NDC supporters as being dead.

But speaking on 3fm’s Sunrise Morning show, the Regional Chairman of the NPP, Bernard Antwi-Boasiako rather accused NDC of having set out to eliminate the names of NPP members from the voters’ register.

“There is no sense in what Koku Anyidoho and the NDC people are saying because we the NPP have never spoken for the Electoral Commission,” he said.

He claimed the Electoral Commission has connived with the NDC to rig the 2016 general elections, saying “I have said it so many times that the Electoral Commission is conniving with the NDC people in NPP strongholds to eliminate people’s names from the register.

Mr Antwi-Bosiako who is commonly referred to as Chaiman Wontumi alleged the NDC demands for voters ID cards before providing people in small towns in the region with fertilizers.

“The Electoral Commission is acting as criminals and [as] it happened in 2012 when they said no verification no vote and they verified the NPP in the NDC strongholds and allowed everybody to vote,” he alleged.

Mr Antwi-Boasiako said he feared the actions of the EC could trigger civil war in the country, saying  “I am scared and afraid that Charlotte Osei will bring civil war to the country”.
