Protesters of the long-awaited #OccupyBoGProtest have been asked to follow the direction of the National Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi.

This instruction was given by the National Chairman of the party, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, while addressing protesters ahead of the procession to the offices of the Central Bank.

He said Tuesday’s march is to ensure that leadership of the Minority gets a face-to-face meet-up with the Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr Ernest Yedu Kwamina Addision, to demand his resignation.

The former NDC General Secretary, therefore, gave indication that they will march to the offices of the Central Bank.

This comes in sharp contrast to a supposed agreement said to have been reached with the police over the route of the march.

The police had reportedly duly informed leadership of the Minority in Parliament that the precincts of the Bank of Ghana is a security zone, therefore, the protest cannot get in proximity.

But Mr Asiedu Nketia rather described the offices as a “crime scene”, adducing that that is where the financial crimes that have been perpetrated against Ghanaians have been committed.

He expressed the resolve of the leadership of the Minority, which is leading the protest, to march to the offices of the Central Bank.

The former Member of Parliament said the police should not attempt stopping them from marching to the Bank of Ghana to present their petition to Dr Addison.

He said theirs is a peaceful protest and if anything untoward happens, the police will be blamed.

The protest started at the Obra Spot near the Kwame Nkrumah Circle Interchange and is expected, on paper, to end at the Black Star Square.
