Former Senior Lecturer at the Department of General Studies at the Methodist University College Dr. Bonsu Osei-Owusu has whittled down claims that the newly elected General Secretary of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) Justin Frimpong Kodua is no match to his opposite number in the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia.
The former lecturer has said Justin Kodua has no contest with Asiedu Nketia and certain that he is good and knowledgeable to work tirelessly to retain NPP in power come 2024.
Sections of the general public have stressed that the General Secretary of the NDC, Mr. Asiedu Nketia, is unparalleled when it comes to Ghana’s politics.
People have described him as the Methuselah in Ghana’s politics due to his influence, experience and contribution to the NDC.
This has compelled many people to doubt and question the capabilities of the NPP’s newly elected General Secretary, maintaining that Justin Kodua is too gentle and subtle to debate with Asiedu Nketia.
But Dr. Osei Bonsu, speaking with Onua FM in an interview on Monday, July 18, rubbished those claims and stated firmly that Justin Kodua has the capabilities to challenge Asiedu Nketia on issues in any day.
He opined that Justin Kodua could use his legal background and work together with the executives as a team to outshine and outwit NDC’s longest serving General Secretary.
“I don’t think Justin Kodua has any contest with Asiedu Nketia. I know he is not going to work as an individual but will work with the executives to deliver on their mandate.
“It is true that Asiedu Nketia has experience at some point but being a lawyer, I believe he will take advantage of his legal background to do solid work for NPP,” Dr Osei Bonsu reiterated.
He entreated the newly elected leadership of NPP to eschew nepotism and backbiting and work as a team to enhance the party’s chances of retaining power in the 2024 polls.
He recommended the current executives to reunite the party from the grassroots level so that the party’s foot soldiers – who are disgruntled for some reasons – will be engaged and win their support.
