NPP Primaries: OB Amoah withdraws from Akuapem South Constituency race

The Member of Parliament for Akuapem South Constituency in the Eastern Region, Osei Bonsu Amoah has withdrawn from the parliamentary primary slated for January 27.

This is contained in a letter he addressed to the General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Justin Kodua Frimpong dated January 19.

“I write to inform you that I have decided to withdraw as a candidate for the election of a Parliamentary Candidate for the General Elections in 2024 in the Akuapem South Constituency,” he wrote.

O.B. Amoah, as he is popularly known, therefore requested the deletion of his name from the ballot.

“I respectfully request that in accordance with the Public Elections Regulations, 2016, C.I. 94, my name should be deleted on the ballot paper for the election. I am most grateful and count on your cooperation,” the letter read.

The NPP is holding parliamentary primaries in constituencies where it has sitting MPs on Saturday, January 27.

Already, many bigwigs such as the Majority Leader, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, first Deputy Speaker, Joseph Osei Owusu, Ken Agyapong, MP for Assin Central, Samuel Atta Akyea, MP for Abuakwa South as well as Joe Ghartey, the MP for Esikado Sekan have declared their intentions not to seek re-election.
