It appears some members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) are not satisfied with the performance of some Ministers within the Nana Akufo-Addo government, and if given the opportunity, they would show some ministers the exit. While arguing that every appointee of the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has a specific task to perform in the grand agenda of the government, Deputy Communications Director of the NPP, Richard Nyamah, suggested a second look at some of the ministers. He was speaking on TV3’s New Day on the back of new ministerial appointments Akufo-Addo made on Thursday, which brings the total number of ministers to 125, a number which has been criticized by many, including the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC). Despite the  criticisms from the public, the NPP argues that the achievements of the government would justify the numbers. Member of Parliament for Bongo in the Upper East Region, Edward Bawa, criticized the government, claiming it is the biggest in the history of the Fourth Republic and also observing that “the numbers have always been around 70 and 80 since Rawling’s time”. He alleges some of the ministers, especially those who are assigned to the presidency idle about yet enjoy all the emoluments due a minister. But Mr. Nyamah contested the idling aspect, arguing that the appointees were given specific tasks to execute by the president. As to whether there is value for money having all these ministers at post, the NPP communicator concedes the assessment is a “value judgement”, and suggested he would relief some of the ministers if given the opportunity. “Generally, yes, but obviously there are some that we probably have to take a second look at and so, that should be left to the people of Ghana to make a decision, but if I had my way, one or two will see the door”, he told Johnnie Hughes on TV3’s New Day Friday.
