Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia is expected to be joined by some party big wigs as he files his nomination forms today, Friday, June 16.

He is expected to be at the New Patriotic Party (NPP) headquarters in Accra around 11:00am to submit the forms, which were picked on his behalf by former National Vice Chairman Fred Oware and former National Organiser Sammy Awuku.

Before that, some supporters had gone to the party’s headquarters with GH¢50,000 cash to pick the forms for him.

Dr Bawumia is considered as one of the front runners in the forthcoming primaries.

His main contender will be former Minister of Trade and Industry Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, who was the first flagbearer aspirant to submit his forms.

After nominations opened on Friday, May 26, 10 aspirants including firebrand politician Ken Ohene Agyapong have so far picked forms.

Nominations will close on Saturday, June 24 ahead of vetting from Monday, July 3.

The party has scheduled Saturday, August 26 for a National Congress by the Special Electoral College if more than five candidates qualify for the primaries.

After the Special Electoral College, if any, the congress to elect the 2024 flagbearer will be held on Saturday, November 4.
