NDC National Chairman Kofi Portuphy[/caption] The National Democratic Congress (NDC) says it is still resolute in its resistance to attempts by the Nana Akufo-Addo-led government to subvert the electoral process with the sacking of three commissioners of the Electoral Commission, Ghana (EC). Its National Chairman, Kofi Portuphy, has indicated that there is growing restlessness among the rank and file of the party over the decision by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to remove Charlotte Osei and her two deputies from office. But he stated that calm should remain until after the funeral of former Vice President Paa Kwesi Bekoe Amissah-Arthur. “We wish to affirm our strong resolve that the NDC and our democratic allies in fulfillment of our constitutional obligations will surely take decisive steps to register our revulsion in the strongest possible terms against this flagrant abuse of the legal process after we have accorded our Comrade a befitting send-off on 27th July 2018,” Dr Portuphy said in a statement on Wednesday. “The leadership understands the restlessness among party members and the good people of Ghana in general. “Please be assured that President Akufo-Addo and his collaborators will not be allowed to get away with the premeditated, cynical and shameful subterfuge to subvert the electoral process and undermine the growth of our democracy.” Mrs Osei together with two other commissioners – Georgina Opoku Amankwaah and Dr Amadu Sulley – were removed from office on Thursday, June 28 on the recommendation of a five-member investigative committee set up by the Chief Justice.
