The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has expressed gratitude to former President John Dramani Mahama and, indeed, all contributors in helping raise funds for the 10th National Delegates Congress.

The Congress, scheduled to be held on Saturday, December 17 at the Accra Sports Stadium, faced financial difficulties in its organisation.

Therefore, some party big wigs launched fund-raising initiatives.

One of them, Mr Mahama, a three-time leader of the party, urged all Ghanaians, particularly party members, to contribute at least GH¢10 to fund the event.

In a statement issued by National Communications Officer Sammy Gyamfi on Friday, December 16, the NDC disclosed that a total of GH¢1,083,000 was raked in from the contributions via Mobile Money.

“The party wishes to thank all Ghanaians who contributed their widows’ mite to what is expected to be a monumental Congress [Saturday].

“The Planning Committee also wishes to thank the many people who made donations to the Congress but wish to remain anonymous,” the statement said.

There was further praise for the former president, who is said to have single-handedly funded the 10th Youth and Women’s Conference held on Saturday, December 10 at the University of Cape Coast (UCC).

He is also said to have topped up the shortfall in the budget for Saturday’s Congress.

The party remains eternally grateful to Ghanaians, Former President and his generous benefactors for their continued support.”
