A statement from the secretariat signed by the party’s Regional Secretary Victor Quarshie Adonoo and Regional Communications Director Jerry Johnson said the MP was “granted absolute pardon by the Greater Accra NDC”.
This comes after Namoale was said to have apologised to the party for passing disparaging comments against some NDC executives last year.
Days after his re-election to run as the NDC parliamentary candidate for Dadekotopon, Nii Amasah Namoale was suspended for calling some executives of the NDC “Fraudsters and Pickpockets”.
His suspension letter dated December 1, 2015 read in part, “The Regional Party and its Executives find this act as an affront to democracy and attempt to drag the party’s image into disrepute. These anti-Party conducts or activities has embarrassed the party and has brought the Party into hatred, ridicule and contempt; hence, must not go unpunished in order to protect the sanctity of Article 40 (8b) and 41 (3a) of the party’s constitution.”
But the party on Thursday January 18, 2016 said the suspension no longer holds.
The party said in his apology letter dated December 16, 2015, the MP “assured the region of his highest respect”, noting that his utterances were “unacceptable” as an MP.
“The Regional Executives have thus pardoned him and have quashed their earlier decision to suspend him from the party,” the party’s statement maintained.
