According to the NPP which has secured a leaked audio tape it purports to have exposed the leadership of the NDC, the opposition party has threatened to unleash assassination, kidnappings and violence in an elaborate plan to disturb the peace in Ghana. “They’re weaponising their political party and put [it] in a path, literary to becoming an internal terrorist organisation. You heard them, a coordinated plan of kidnappings, physical and verbal attacks and infiltration of the security services,” Yaw Buabeng Asamoah told journalists. The NPP communications director claims the former President John Mahama who has been re-elected to lead the NDC into the next elections intends to use “violent, extremist” tactics to become president. Mr. Buabeng Asamoah’s accusation stemmed from the leaked audio tape which has gone viral since Tuesday night. A voice purported to be that of the national chairman of the NDC Samuel Ofosu Ampofo was heard raging war on the EC chairperson and threatening to kidnap family members of NPP militia groups. “We will go after them. But not face to face. We will let them know that their lives are in danger. Our people have identified a number of them,” the voice said at a meeting with some NDC communicators. The voice also announced a plan to target President Nana Akufo-Addo for a smear campaign to paint him as a violent person. “The conversation must be focused on the president as one who has shown his true colours as a violent person.  When people hear of violence in elections they will be thinking of the invisible forces while we do our own things,” the person on the tape was heard saying. He suggested an investigation into the tape, noting that until the nation gets to the bottom of the matter, Ghana will not be safe for its people. “I dare say and arguably so, that until we get to the bottom of this matter, this nation is not stable, until we get to the bottom of this matter this nation is not safe…” He added: “…Ofosu Ampofo and his ilk including greedy Mahama don’t intend to allow peace to reign in our country so that the rule of law will bring prosperity to all of us”. The communications director said the noise made about the violence at the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election “was built on nothing,” adding the NDC’s  “deliberate orchestrated lies and crafted events have crumbled into nothing. “They have found themselves out; the leadership of the NDC have found themselves out. They’ve exposed themselves to the nation,” Mr. Buabeng Asamoah stated. By Stephen Kwabena Effah|3news.com|Ghana ]]>
