Ashanti Region Chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Augustus Andrew Nana Akwasi has taken a swipe at the government for not accepting that it erred in its earlier position on the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

“Elements in this administration have lambasted former President John Dramani Mahama over his decision to go to the IMF in 2015,” Nana Akwasi told Media General‘s Northern Bureau chief William Evans-Nkum.

“They have called him names even, the all-knowing Dr [Mahamudu] Bawumia. Why are they quiet now?” he quizzed.

He described government’s posture since their U-turn as “pompous” and a “shame”.

“The government sits aloof and allow people like Wontumi who has no knowledge in economics to speak ill of [former] President Mahama on going to IMF, it is a shame and a display of total failure,” he said.

He said former president John Dramani Mahama has been vindicated.

“What we are witnessing currently only affirms that John Dramani Mahama is the best manager of Ghana’s economy,” he stressed.
