The Asawase constituency chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Faisal Dawudu, has chastised the Member of Parliament for the area, Muntaka Mubarak for failing to participate in a supposed constituency unity walk.

The lawmaker is alleged to have told his supporters not to participate in the walk meant to unite opposing factions during the runup to the constituency primaries.

Though most members of the party joined the walk on Sunday, May 28, the MP was conspicuously missing in action.

“This walk is aimed at bringing all members of the party on board to unite and fight for a common purpose – victory 2024. But the MP decided not to participate even though I sent him an invitation”, Asawase NDC constituency chairman, Faisal Dauda said.

To the constituency chairman, the MP is not showing leadership and is not ready to bring unity to the party.

“”It is very unfortunate that as a sitting MP and the parliamentary candidate elect for the constituency instead of him to unite the party, he is rather agitating against his opponent who lost the contest with him. His actions appear divisive”, Faisal decried.

Muntaka’s contender in the parliamentary primaries, Masawudu Mubarick, noted the outcome of the election was the will of the people.

He expressed his readiness to support and campaign for thr NDC parliamentary and presidential candidates for a massive win.

“I don’t see my loss as a rejection by the people. It only indicates that majority of the people want Hon. Muntaka to continue. I want to reaffirm my commitment to the party and to tell my supporters to rally behind the parliamentary candidate elect and John Mahama for victory in 2024”.

The NDC in Asawase is hoping to retain its seat in a decisive manner and also annex the vote of its presidential candidate.
