The Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament said the party needs every individual who is contesting the flagbearership position on board to win the 2020 elections. Mr. Bagbin gave the advice in an interview on Onua FM’s Yen Sempa hosted by Bright Kwasi Asempa on Tuesday. “We need each other to win 2020 so you don’t treat others with contempt. We must treat each other fairly,” he urged. The Member of Parliament for Nadowli Kaleo Constituency noted that “if you use what we call in Akan ‘takashie’ to win power, and the rest decide to sit aloof, it means you can’t win 2020 elections because we need each other to win power”. The longest serving MP in Ghana’s Parliament with 26 years of experience in the House said “MPs who endorsed some candidates may be regretting along the line because my people prefer me to other candidates”. Performance of NPP government Commenting on the two-year administration of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) government, the former Health Minister under the Mahama and Mills administration said, “Akufo-Addo is joking with the power” “I have told him I am coming for it and he laughed,” he explained. He said, “you cannot joke with the security of the people because for now, when you move, you look back to see if people are trailing you and if you are in the public sector, your fear may be one day someone will come and throw you out”. “[President Akufo-Addo] has failed in peace and security,” the NDC MP noted.
