The Minority Leader, Dr Cassiel Ato Baah Forson, is demanding a “thorough” and “independent” investigations into the $1 million, €300,000 and millions of undisclosed Cedis stolen from the home of the Minister of Sanitation and Water Resources, Cecilia Abena Dapaah, by two house helps.
The issue came to light on Thursday, July 20 when the matter was heard at an Accra Circuit Court, where the two house helps involved in the crime – Patience Botwe and Sarah Agyei – are standing trial.
The Minority has waded into this, urging the Minister to step aside for the investigations.
“We cannot overlook such a serious development that has the potential to undermine the very principles of probity, accountability and transparency in our governance,” the Minority Leader wrote on Friday, July 21.
“Given the magnitude and gravity of this situation, it is essential that an immediate and impartial investigation be carried out to ascertain the source and legitimacy of these funds.
“I strongly urge the concerned Minister to voluntarily step aside from her duties until the relevant state institutions have conducted a thorough and independent investigation into this matter.”
The Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam Member of Parliament (MP) insists that the people of Ghana “deserve nothing less than a government that serves their interests with honesty and dedication”.

Already, former President John Mahama has challenged President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo not to let this slide.
“Will Nana Akufo-Addo ever set a good example for public office holders in his administration?” he wondered in a tweet.
