National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament for Banda Constituency Ibrahim Ahmed says he is not surprised the presentation of the mid-year budget review has been moved to the afternoon.

He said it only goes to tell all and sundry how “hot” the country is due to the economic hardship.

The presentation by the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, was scheduled to be delivered on the floor of Parliament at 10:00am Monday, July 25.

However, there was late communication, announcing a change in time.

Speaking on Accra-based Neat FM on Monday, July 25, the Deputy Minority Chief Whip said the current government is helpless in managing the economy, hence the worsening of situations.

He said the heat on the government to turn around the economy is too unbearable for the Akufo-Addo-led administration, therefore the delay of the mid-year review to afternoon.

Mr Ofori-Atta is expected to seek supplementary budget support to shore up the country’s reserves.

Among the innovations captured in the 2022 budget, the e-levy has not raked in the expected revenue.

He will seek Parliament’s approval for financial support in the face of an Enhanced Domestic Programme (EDP) the country is seeking from the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
