Member of Parliament for Juaboso, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has commissioned a Community-Based Health Planning Services (CHPS) Compound at Whɛmehaa in the Awhiafutu Electoral Area of the Juaboso District of the Western North Region.
The facility is made up of an OPD, delivery room, male and female wards, an office and a washroom.
With his share of the District Assembly Common Fund, Mr Akandoh, who is a ranking member of parliamentary select committee on health, has also built one CHPS Compound and presented it to the people of Antobia.
He told the chief and people of the area he is committed to ensuring quality health care for the people of his constituency.
He gave credit to the District Director of Health and the CHPS District Coordinator, for their immense contribution to healthcare delivery in the district.
He said he has so far spent his share of the common fund judiciously.
He took advantage of the occasion to touch on a number of developmental projects which are ongoing in the Constituency including the multipurpose, state of the art dining hall for Juaboso Senior High School.
Mr Akandoh appealed to the chief, opinion leaders, and staff of the facility to be meticulous, circumspect and give of their best with decorum to ensure the efficiency of the facility.
“it is only through dedication and selflessness that we can achieve anything meaningful”, he stressed.
In her keynote address, the District Director of Health for Juaboso, Mrs. Setina Alipo, appreciated the MP and disclosed that the District is a proud beneficiary of about six CHPS Compound in the district.
She reiterated the MP’s calls for the people to observe maintenance culture to ensure that the facility stands the test of time.
She also inaugurated the Community Health Facility Management Committee.
The District Coordinator of the Health Directorate for Juaboso thanked the Member of Parliament and briefed the gathering on Community-Based Health Planning Services (CHPS) concept. He said the CHPS compound remains the first public health facility in the District. He appealed to them not to hesitate to rush to the facility to enable them to save lives and also stay healthy.
The facility was officially handed over to the District Health Directorate.
