The Member of Parliament for Jomoro Constituency in the Western Region, Dorcas Affo-Toffey, is encouraging National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary Candidate for the Assin North by-election, James Gyakye Quayson, in his fight to be re-elected.

Mr. Gyakye Quayson was ousted as the Assin North MP by a High Court ruling, affirmed by the Supreme Court, hence the by-election slated for Tuesday, June 27.

As part of the effort to canvass votes for Mr. Gyakye Quayson, Madam Affo-Toffey and some NDC MPs stormed the Assin North Constituency over the weekend to campaign.

They went from house to house, church to church, market to market, among others to campaign.

Speaking to the media after the campaign, the Jomoro MP said “both of us were in together but I am out by God’s grace”.

“We went up and down. Being in Parliament and not knowing what is coming was a difficult one but the God that helped me will also help you out,” she added.

Madam Affo-Toffey said “we are very hopeful the electorates will vote for [Mr. Quayson]”.

“If the people have decided and God is on your side, no human being can change it.”

She said “we shall help with massive campaigns because this seat is dear to us as Minority in Parliament”.

Madam Affo-Toffey said “because of the hung Parliament, if anything untoward happens, it will not help the Minority, so we are working hard as Minority Caucus to ensure we win the seat”.

The MP expressed gratitude to the MP for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, and that of South Dayi Constituency, Joyce Tetteh, in the Volta Region for their tremendous participation during the campaign.
