Former President, John Mahama on Wednesday, January 24 paid a visit to popular Kumasi-based preacher, Ebenezer Adarkwa Yiadom, widely known as Opambuor.

The former President met with the preacher at his church premises, the Ebenezer Miracle Worship Centre at Ahenema Kokoben in the Ashanti Region before his three-day tour of the Ashanti Region.

John Mahama clad in an all-white attire urged the preacher to continue praying for the NDC for victory in the December elections.

He also encouraged the Evangelist to intercede for the country for peace to prevail in the December elections.

“We are starting today in the Ashanti Region. If by God’s grace we get power, the bible teaches us that as a leader, you are a servant to your people and are in service to them.

“To do so, you must know what you want to do for the people, it also means we are all the same in terms of ideas to develop the country, we are recording major views from people we meet and we will factor in into our plans.

“We know you have been praying for us and we are here to encourage you to continue till God paves a way for us and to gives us victory in the elections. Let’s conduct this election in peace. We must do so in peace because in 2020, 8 people were lost not a single drop of blood must be shed in 2024,” he stated.

John Mahama after the visit held a march dubbed the 24-hour economy rally across the principal streets of Kumasi together with some NDC officials before he delivered his speech to the NDC supporters.

The NDC’s Presidential candidate for the 2024 elections also gave a vivid explanation of his proposed 24-hour Economy policy and stressed that it will address the economic challenges facing the country.

“24-hour economy is being implemented in other countries, it is not something new at all. Pharmacies, pump stations, and sawmills were all operating when we were all kids. How come some companies now close at 5 pm, 8 pm. Can’t the Kejetia Market operate a 24-hour economy for people to buy stuff? We will provide security and transport for people to work at night. Other measures will be put in place to ensure that the 24-hour economy works.”

“The government doesn’t deserve another term, it failed to deliver its promises to the traders after the fire outbreak in the market. The Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, reneged on his promise of renovating the market. The market is in a sorry state. Don’t worry, the next NDC government will renovate for you,” he promised.
