The Member of Parliament (MP) for Madina, Francis Xavier-Sosu has sent a solidarity message to the lawmaker for Assin North, James Gyakye Quayson after the Supreme Court on Wednesday April 13 to restrained him from holding himself as an MP.

“Hon. James Quayson⁩ I am so much in pain but I need you to remember that It doesn’t matter what life throws at you. Every adversity, every failure, every heartache carries with it the seed of an equal or greater benefit.

“There are many instances where minority views eventually becomes the majority view. It’s all a matter of time. Keep believing your dreams and stand strong.” Mr Xavier Sosu said in a Facebook post.

The Supreme court by a majority decision of 5-2 ordered him to stop carrying himself as an MP.

Justices Agnes Dordzie and Nene Amegatcher dissented while Prof. Henrietta Mensah Bonsu, Mariama Owusu, Gertrude Torkornoo, and Emmanuel Yonny Kulendi voted in favour.

Cape Coast High Court, presided over by Justice Coram Kwasi Boakye, had earlier ruled that Mr Gyakye Quayson was not eligible to contest the December 7, 2020 Parliamentary Elections because he bore dual citizenship before picking nomination forms from the Electoral Commission, Ghana (EC).

Fresh elections were, as a result, ordered to be conducted while Mr Gyakye Quayson was asked to cease from holding himself as MP.

But the man accused of having Canadian and Ghanaian citizenship allegedly goes to Parliament to join in proceedings.
