The Ashanti Region Chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress, Andrew Augustus Nana Akwasi, has hit back at critics over allegations that he sold his party’s votes during the 2020 general election.

“I have heard unfounded allegations leveled against me,” he said local radio station Fox FM.

“Some alleged I sold out the NDC during the 2020 general election; just throw that to the dogs because I would rather sell my properties to support the NDC and ensure John Mahama wins the election than to sell out the NDC, which is the soul of many including myself.”

He dared anyone with concrete evidence to produce it.

“I will resign my position if anybody is able to produce concrete evidence that I sold out the party. I worked closely with my executives and the results of the 2020 elections speak volumes of how we performed.”

Nana Akwasi called on the rank and file of the party to unite and rather work hard to ensure the NDC garner more votes in the next election.

“When I and my executives took over the party, we inherited a little over 400,00 votes, but in 2020, we increased it to over 600,000 votes,” Nana Akwasi said.
