Former Mayor of Kumasi and ex-board chairman of the National Sports Authority (NSA) Kojo Bonsu has received backing from some members within the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for the position of running mate.

According to John Kudalor, a political analyst, Bonsu has been identified as a strong contender for the position due to his extensive experience in urban development, business acumen, and strategic marketing expertise. His ability to connect with diverse demographics and his reputation as a unifying figure within the party have also been cited as reasons for his suitability for the role.

Some members of the NDC have expressed their support for Bonsu’s candidacy, highlighting his credentials and qualifications as a solid foundation for a successful partnership with the party’s presidential candidate, John Mahama. They argue that Bonsu’s presence on the ticket would bring a unique perspective and skillset to the campaign, helping to attract votes from a broad cross-section of the electorate.

While there are other candidates also vying for the position of running mate, Bonsu’s backing from some members within the party suggests that he may have an advantage in the race. However, the final decision on who will serve as Mahama’s running mate is expected to be made by the party’s hierarchy and executive committee next year.

The selection of a running mate is a critical aspect of any political campaign, as the person chosen can help to bolster the party’s appeal to voters and provide a counterbalancing perspective to the presidential candidate.

In the case of the NDC, the choice of running mate could be particularly important given the competitive nature of the upcoming elections and the need to present a strong, unified front to the electorate.
