The campaign team of Kennedy Ohene Agyapong is touting the Assin Central Member of Parliament (MP) as the best man to lead not only the New Patriotic Party (NPP) into the 2024 elections but also the country in 2025.

Spokesperson Kwame Owusu says Ghana needs a disciplinarian like Ken Agyapong to change mindsets.

He was speaking on TV3‘s Ghana Tonight on Thursday, September 13 after the New Patriotic Party (NPP) conducted balloting for the four remaining aspirants for the party’s November 4 Presidential Primary.

Mr Agyapong picked the Number 1 spot while Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia picked Number 2.

Former Agric Minister Dr Owusu Afriyie Akoto and former Mampong MP Francis Addai-Nimoh picked Number 3 and Number 4 respectively.

Speaking on the outcome of the balloting, Mr Owusu said it does not amount to anything and the team has asked the businessman’s supporters not to be complacent.

“For me, I will only caution that our people do not relent and they don’t just go and jubilate  and say because we have picked ‘one’ we are going to be the winners,” he said.

“I believe in hardwork and all of them should go right now and start door to door and make sure that the dreams and the good things that Honourable [Ken Agyapong] has for this country is achieved.”

He believes Ghana needs a disciplinarian like Mr Agyapong.

“The most important thing for us is discipline. This country we need a disciplinarian so that he will change the mindset of all of us because no one person can govern the country.

“You can see contractors will do the roads and in just two months everything just breaks up and nobody gets punished.

“As a leader, be a key for all of us [so that] people that work around him, his appointees, the police, the private workers and all contractors who get government contract will not shortchange us.

“And I believe that is the key thing that everybody is going to look up to him come December 2024.”

For him, those are the qualities of an appealing leader not for the NPP but the rest of the country.

Mr Agaypong came second in the August 26 Super Delegates Conference and has promised to go full hog in the final primary on Saturday, November 4.
