Minority Chief Whip Kwame Agbodza has said that his side of House will support all the government agencies responsible for fighting the illegal small-scale mining (Galamsey) menace.
He said the devastating effect of galamsey on the water bodies and the environment in general, makes it compulsory for all the efforts to tackle the situation to be supported.
He described all persons involved in the illicit practice as murderers.
Speaking on the floor of Parliament on Tuesday, July 25, the Adaklu Member of Parliament said “If I was a judge, probably, the stiffest punishment that I will give to any human being should be to somebody who is polluting water because that one can kill you even before you know it.
“We as a house are ready to support the government agencies responsible for those to take action that works. All those human beings whether you are in this house or outside of this house and you engage in galamseyer , you are just murderers as anybody who actually kills people through robbery.
“If you are a galamseyer, I am saying you are also a murderer and the punishments that go to murderers should go for people who engage in galamsey so if you are in this house and you are a galamseyer you are a murderer and you must stop it.”
