Driver whose car hit NPP chairman returning from campaign in Assin North arrested

The driver of a Daewoo truck which crashed into a motorbike in Assin-Breku in the Central Region has been arrested.

George Owusu has, however, been granted a police inquiry bail and said to be assisting investigations.

The accident on Monday, June 12 involved the Bono East Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Ibrahim Abubakar Musah, who was said to be on the motorbike.

He is reported to have been rushed to a near-by medical facility but later had to be airlifted to Accra for emergency attention.

He sustained severe injuries.

“We urge the public to remain calm while investigation into the incident continues,” the Central Regional Police Command said in a news release on Wednesday, June14.
