The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has re-elected the party’s 2016 parliamentary candidate for the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency, Delali Kwasi Brempong, to contest the constituency’s impending by-election on January 31. Mr. Brempong shrug off competition from two other contenders, Ekwow Acquah and Donna Selassie Agbo, to emerge victorious. At the end of Friday’s primary, Delali Kwasi Brempong polled 415 votes as against 190 by Ekwow Acquah, and 115 by Madam Donna Selassie Agbo. The elected candidate believes his election for the bye-election is a beginning of a triumphant journey to winning the seat which was formally occupied by the New Patriotic Party’s Emmanuel Kyeremateng Agyarko. “This is an internal contest and it’s just the beginning of a process for 31st January”, he said. The seat became vacant following the death of Mr. Agyarko in November and the Electoral Commission (EC) has consequently fixed January 31, 2019 for the replacement of the late MP. The NDC 2016 parliamentary candidate is optimistic that this is an opportunity to unseat the NPP for good and has thus called on the party to rally support towards that cause. “We all must come on board and take this seat for the NDC once and forever”, he appealed to party sympathizers. Meanwhile, the ruling NPP is yet to elect a candidate to represent the party in the bye-election. By 3news.com|Ghana]]>
