Breaking the 8 is the agenda; we need the calibre of characters to do that – Obiri Boahen tells delegates

Outgoing Deputy General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Nana Obiri Boahen has said that delegates of the party will have to elect persons who have the skills and the competence to help break the 8-year cycle.

He told TV3’s Komla Adom in interview on Saturday July 16 as part of preparations for the delegates conference of the NPP that the agenda of the party is to break the 8.

“We need calibre of characters who will help us break the 8, that is the agenda,” Nana Obori Boahen who said he will be opening a new chapter in his political career after exiting as Deputy Genera Secretary, said.

Minister of Justice and Attorney General, Godfred Yeboah Dame also said that he is confident his party, the NPP will break the 8-year electoral cycle in the 2024 general elections.

In his view, this is due to the good performance of the government in developing and transforming he country.

Speaking in an interview with TV3’s Roland Walker at the Accra Sports Stadium where the NPP are having their delegates conference to elect new national executives on Saturday July 16, he said “I am saying that we have never seen, since independence, this kind of development. Even in my own sector, you can see the transformation and the development we have made in good governance and all.

“That clearly shows that the party is capable of transforming the fortunes of the country and I am very confident that in 2024 the people of Ghana we will renew the mandate that they gave to us and we will break the 8.”
