Member of Parliament for Effutu and Deputy Majority leader in Parliament, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, has admonished young politicians, especially political commentators to eschew the politics of extremism and to his party members, he said the least they can do is to honor former Vice President Aliu Mahama is by being moderates to consider the future of the unborn.

He thus described Vice President Mahamadu Bawumia as “perhaps an Aliu Mahama reincarnation, easy of address and a determined soul, ready to serve his country”.

Mr Afenyo-Markin admonished younger generation politicians, especially his fellow party members, that they have no other country apart from Ghana and thus extremism should not be part of their advocacy.

He said when political commentators go on radio and television to scream and call out their opponents with “unprintable” names, thinking that is the way to win the hearts and minds of the people.

Mr Afenyo-Markin said “but really I dare say it is not the case, Aliu Mahama became a running mate not because he could demonstrate that as a Muslim he could shout and intimidate”.

He said the late former Vice President proved to Ghanaians that he was a man of virtue, a Muslim, a Ghanaian, that you see him and you see his religion and what it respresents.

Mr Afenyo-Markin said this on the floor of parliament on Thursday, November 12.

“Vice President Mahamadu Bawumia perhaps you can see an Aliu reincarnation. He is easy of address, a determined soul who is ready to serve his country. So Mr Speaker, whether Christian or Muslim, we are all one, we serve the same God, we serve the same Allah. Rising to eminence by merit Mr Speaker, we live respected and die regretted,” the deputy majority leader pointed out.
