A lead member of the Communications Team for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Donkor Fuseini, is raising suspicion over the judicious use of the Appiatse Disaster Support Fund.

He has cautioned against donations into to Fund as he doubts the government’s honesty in using proceeds for the intended purpose.

The Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Samuel Abu Jinapor, on behalf of the government on Tuesday, January 25 launched a support fund to assist people affected by the explosion at Appiatse, near Bogoso in the Western Region

Citing the Covid-19 relief fund and its alleged misappropriation by the government, the former Sekyere Afram Plains District Chief Executive (DCE) has advised donors to the Appiatse Fund to physically present items to the victims rather than sending money into the Fund.

Speaking on Akoma FM’s current affairs and political show GhanAkoma Tuesday, February 1, Mr. Donkor explained that “it is reasonable to buy items and present them to the explosion victims than donating into the fund which may end up in someone’s pocket”.

Although President Nana Akufo-Addo has made a contribution of GH¢100,000 to the Apiate Explosion Support Fund, Donkor Fuseini further questioned government’s competence in handling the Fund
