Sources say embattled President of the Ghana Football Association Kwesi Nyantakyi who was arrested on Wednesday and charged with defrauding by false pretense has the deputy minister as his accomplice after he was captured in a video telling investors he can influence Ghana’s president with $5 million. In the yet-to-be screened video by international investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas, Mr. Karbo is believed to have been captured trying to negotiate deals on behalf of the presidency. Mr. Karbo who is also the Member of Parliament MP for Lawra was earlier reported to have been invited by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service. But the CID told a press conference that the Deputy Minister has not been invited, noting that investigations into Nyantakyi’s fraud case had just begun. The police therefore appealed to the media to give them space to take their time in handling the case diligently. Meanwhile, Mr. Nyantakyi was granted bail by the CID on Wednesday evening after his arrest in the morning and currently assisting the CID in ongoing investigations. Meanwhile, the Editor-in-Chief of The New Crusading Guide newspaper, Malik Kweku Baako who has watched the video documentary confirmed that Mr. Karbo is in the video on corruption. “Karbo was the one scheduled to be interviewed on Wednesday… Karbo is mentioned and he is aware he’s been mentioned, and he knew that Wednesday we were to meet for the interview, so he would have watched. If you are not being interviewed you can’t watch the portion that concerns you,” Mr Kweku Baako disclosed on Metro TV’s Good Morning Ghana on Thursday. “So [Karbo] knew, the investigation is incomplete and we will still interview him by all means. The fourth person will also be interviewed.” Source: 3news.com | Ghana]]>
