Police seize 3 foreign pistols, 6 ammunition; 3 arrested

The three guns and the ammunition seized from the two suspects[/caption] The Police in Wa in the Upper West Region have arrested three people in possession of three foreign made pistols with six ammunition. A tip off by a Police informant led to the arrest of two  of them–Julius Amoah and Sulemana Adams –Saturdday morning from their respective homes, TV3’s Yakubu Abdul-Gafur reported Deputy Upper West Regional Police Commander Edmond Oduro Kwarteng told TV3 Tuesday that at about 10:30am, they got intelligence that someone was offering a pistol for sale at Wa based on which a surveillance was mounted. He said they followed on the intelligence and at about 10:40am, they located Julius in his room. They arrested him and a search conducted in his room leading to the discovery of one of the pistols. “A search conducted in his room revealed a foreign pistol and unregistered motorbike. He mentioned one Sulemana Adams at Babili near Lawra as the owner. [caption id="attachment_70529" align="aligncenter" width="564"] The Deputy Reg. Police Commander, Edmond Kwarteng[/caption] The Commander noted Julius led the Police to the house of Sulemana and was also arrested. When the room was searched, another foreign pistol was discovered, the Commander said, adding, “He claimed ownership as well as the one found on Julius”. Both suspects, the commander said, have been detained tighter with the pistols and the ammunition for further investigations into the matter. The third pistol and the six rounds of amunition was retrieved from Matthew Malluzie who was arrested around the Wa airstrip. Matthew was suspected to have robed one Daniel Suley whose motorbike with registration number M-17-1775 was taken away from him on the Wa Bakori road. According to the police Daniel was attacked by two young men who were armed with a pump action gun but he managed to identify one of the suspects. Daniel was believed to have rushed to a police officer who also lives in one of the rented quarters in town and informed him about the incident. Shortly after the incident, the policeman was believed to have seen one young man riding a motorbike that fitted the description given by the complaint. Matthew Malluzie was therefore arrested by the officer with support from a driver who pursued him with his vehicle. Police investigations revealed that Matthew had a foreign pistol loaded with six rounds of ammunition hidden in his crash helmet.
