Barely a week after they attacked some 40 passengers on a VIP at Abenbebon Station on the Takoradi-Kumasi Highway, the armed robbers have been arrested.

3news.com first reported on the crime, which occurred in the wee hours of Monday, February 21.

The VIP bus with registration number GT 5795-16 was travelling from Takoradi in the Western Region to Kumasi in the Ashanti Region.

“At around 3:30am on Monday, February 21, 2022, about five armed robbers with rifles and other weapons attacked us and made away with our monies and other belongings. All of them were wearing masks,” a victim called Ekua told Connect FM’s morning show host Nhyiraba Paa Kwesi Simpson a few hours after the traumatic incident.

“After the robbery, they asked us to pray for them because it was not their will to stop vehicles on the highway and rob passengers of their belongings but the system has compelled them to do so,” she added.

On Wednesday, March 2, the Ghana Police Service announced that the robbers have been arrested.

However, two died while one is in custody.
