File. Police personnel[/caption] The Police in Yendi have commenced investigations into what triggered fresh attacks in Yendi late Thursday, leading to the shooting and killing of one person in the Northern Regional town. According to the Police, though calm has been restored to the area as of Friday morning, they were still touring the affected areas to ascertain the damage caused by the incident which happened at a time some chiefs were arriving in the town for a royal funeral. Divisional Crime Officer at Yendi, Supt. Happy Michael Addai, told Onua FM Friday that four houses were burnt in the latest disturbances but said there were no people in them at the time of the incident. One person, whose name has only been given as Ali, and caught in the crossfire around 6:40pm was killed. Our correspondent reported Thursday night that there were exchanges of gunshots but was not directly linked to the Abudus and Andanis.  It is believed that sympathisers of the two families are behind it. The Police confirmed that it all began when some youth pelted stones at the convoy of the Sagnerigu chief as he arrived in the town for the final funeral rites for the late overlord of Dagbon, Ya-Naa Yakubu Abdulai Andani planned to start today. The action was reprised by another group, erupting into an exchange of fire and burning of homes some of which the Police say were being used as drinking spots. Meanwhile, the Andanis are insistent they are awaiting the Bolinlana to vacate the Mba Dugu Palace for the final funeral rites on Friday, January 11. By Kweku Antwi-Otoo|3news.com|Ghana]]>
