A philanthropist in the Upper East Region has donated items worth thousands of cedis to an orphanage, hospital and schools in the region.
Items including cartons of bottled water, soft drinks, educational materials, school bags and t-shirts were distributed at the Bawku Presbyterian Hospital, Kingdom of Hope Orphanage, and schools in the Binduri district.
Presenting the items, Alhaji Adams Karim, who is also a business man said his gesture was borne out of love to assist the less privileged in society and not for political intentions whatsoever.
General manager of the Bawku Presbyterian hospital, Kweku Fianko Gyan and the beneficiaries thanked Alhaji Karim who owns the Alhaji A. Plus company, for the kind gesture.
At Kingdom of Hope Orphanage School, 150 pupils received T-shirts, soft drinks, pencils, erasers rulers and a cash of ¢500 for their foodstuff.
Addressing beneficiaries Alhaji Karim urged them to take their studies seriously in order to become prominent and responsible persons in future. He assured them of more support.
Preacher Jacob Nicheemah, a proprietor of the School commended Alhaji Karim and promised to put the items into good use, noting it will contribute largely to the daily needs of the pupils.
Executive Director for the Kingdom of Hope indicated that donor support has not been forthcoming as only few local individuals and agencies support the school.
He said previously, they had some foreign organizations who were coming in to support them but now they are having difficulties with funding.
“We are indeed grateful that you have donated to support the children here” he said.
He appealed to corporate Ghana to support the orphanage school to cater for the basic needs of orphans.
